Victor Thompson - Waroona
Victor's passion for cooking came from watching his Grandmother, mother and his friend’s mother in the art of preserving. His friends mother encouraged Victor to enter The Waroona Show and where he gained a second prize behind his friends Mother who gained first prize. The following year he entered again and won first prize while his friends mother won second prize.
Victor, who is formerly trained as a chef, worked in a number of local restraunts but now Victors Gourmet Delights is enjoying the sweet taste of citrusy success after winning a silver award in the seventh annual Worlds Original Marmalade Awards, held at Dalemain Mansion near Penrith, Cumbria, U.K.
Victor Thompson received one of the marmalades world’s most prestigious accolades for his Orange Marmalade which he entered in the Artisan category for commercial business, and scored high marks for its appearance, colour, consistency, aroma and flavour.
Over 1000 jars of marmalade from as far afield as Singapore and South Africa were sent by both Artisan and Amateur makers to the organisers of the quirky British awards for judging by a prestigious panel of marmalade experts.
The Worlds Original Marmalade Awards & Festival boasts the sponsorship backing of some of the most famous names in Marmalade _ Paddington, MacKay’s, Thursday Cottage, Jam Jar Shop and Fortnum & Mason.
The events 2012 beneficiaries are Hospice at home and Action Medical Research.
Victors Marmalades, Jams, Preserves, Sauces and Chutneys continue to win First prizes at local shows as well as The Perth Royal Show, collecting 2 trophies, and over 50 Awards over the last two and a half years.
