Shak Shuka is a traditional Moroccan breakfast of slow roasting tomatoes, poached eggs, herbs, spices, garlic, crusty baguette and harissa dip with a garnish of spring onion and optional chorizo sausage.

A family recipe created by Chef Riki Kaspi and passed down to her son Elli, this breakfast is somewhat of a family treasure.

Originating in the Kaspi Family’s ‘Riki Blakes’ restaurant, Shak Shuka soon became a popular option for breakfast. Following the sale of the restaurant, Shak Shuka is intended to give the people of Perth a unique and authentic option for breakfast on a weekend morning.

Sourcing local produce was the focus from the outset, chorizo sausage from an award winning local butcher and free range eggs and organic baguettes sourced fresh on the day from the Leederville Farmers Market combine to provide an authentic Moroccan breakfast of the finest quality, whilst supporting local suppliers and producers.

Elli’s aim has been to provide a homely meal with a unique blend of herbs and spices that gives you a taste of Morocco. Shak Shuka is handmade each week to achieve this, with care and time put into the process to provide the perfect blend.

Riki Kaspi’s ‘Moroccan Food Journey’ of handmade Fish, Lamb, Chicken or Vegetarian Tajin is furthered by experiencing Shak Shuka. Look out for the pan of bubbling, slow roasting tomato sauce and poached eggs at the new market.
