Gingin Beef is a small family run farm in Gingin, Western Australia, a one hour drive north of Perth. Maxine and Chris Greville along with daughters Julia and Penny began Gingin Beef to supply superior quality Grass Fed & Finished beef to local customers looking for healthy restaurant quality beef to cook at home. Top quality cattle has been a way of life for five generations and we pride ourselves on our genetics and delicious beef.


All grass fed beef is different, this is what makes ours special.
We believe our Grass fed beef to be superior, earning it's flavour from the soil and grass it grazes on, similar to regional variety seen in wine. Our Grass Fed beef grazes on unique mineral rich soils, land which has been family owned through five generations from the early 1850's. The growing conditions here are ideal for free range grass-fed and finished cattle with an abundance of green feed all year round.


Here at Gingin Beef all cattle processed are born and raised on the property. We do not purchase additional cattle to fatten and sell therefore ensuring quality and consistency for all beef we produce. Yes we do have a limited number of animals but we believe this is what makes us special as we can ensure that every carcass tastes it absolute best as it always should. To us it's not about big business, it's about quality every time.


We pride ourselves on producing beef of the highest standard - full of flavour and completely natural. All our beef is Dry Aged for a minimum of 21 days with a greater concentration and saturation of natural flavours as well as tenderness of the meat texture. This process involves considerable expense, as the beef must be stored near freezing temperatures and because of this dry aged beef is seldom available outside specialty steak restaurants.


All our Beef is grown without hormones, antibiotics, genetically modified inputs, grain feeding or feedlot confinement.

Grass Fed & Finished Beef have many health benefits. Grass fed & finished beef has twice the amount of Beta-Carotene the grain fed beef (a precursor of Vitamin A) - needed for normal vision, bone growth, reproduction and cell division.

It has 2.5 times the amount of Vitamin E, a natural antioxidant which can help mop up free radicals. It has more omega-3 fatty acids, and an improved balance of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation, and help prevent heart disease and arthritis. (Only grass fed beef is recommended by Food Standard Australia for beef to be considered a source of omega-3 fatty acids.)


Grass fed beef also has increased levels of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), an important polyunsaturated fatty acid which is involved in reducing heart disease, cancer, diabetes and the accumulation of our own body fat.

It also contains significantly less saturated fats ('bad fats') than grain fed beef,  grass fed beef tends to be leaner overall (less than 3% fat). The same is true of lamb or milk products from 100% grass-fed & finished sheep and cattle.


One possible reason behind these health benefits is related to the pH in the rumen, or first of the four stomachs. The rumen of the bovine, where bacteria aid in digestion, is maintained at a much higher pH when animals are grass fed only. When grain is added to the diet, the types of bacteria change because of the different fermentation needed to digest the starches in the grain products. This more acidic rumen content creates an environment and type of bacteria that can not produce as much CLA, polyunsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids but will produce more omega-6 fatty acids.
